Today we spent our first day skiing this beautiful mountain! Mt. Crested Butte rises 12,162 feet into the air, and even from the top of this highest lifts on the mountain, the peak still towers majestically above. We had a good day on the slopes, a bluebird day if you will, although I would have liked a bit more fresh snow. Not to worry, that seems to be in store over the next few days.
Conditions today were good but the powder was a bit crusted over, leading us to start referring to the mountain as "Crusted Butte." Still, we had a very enjoyable day!
For those of you who follow me on Facebook, you've seen that I am trying a new iPhone app called "Ski Tracks." So far, I have to give this app two thumbs up! It's a GPS driven app that records my wanderings all over the mountain, and reports with statistics, graphs and maps – and one-click Facebook publishing. Really nice, and I'll be posting more about it later.
That's all for now, it's time for rest! More to come…

27 Feb 2012Just color me green with envy. …..I can tell everyone in the world to be careful. Coincidentally, my mother did the day before I broke my leg. We were skiing in mediocre at best conditions, so please ski with caution. If in doubt…don’t do it. OTHERWISE, I’ll be forced to give you tips on how to navigate on crutches! :o)
